Free long distance north america wide with gmail

To my surprise I had found out that google was offering its own voip(voice over ip/internet calling) service through gmail and as a promotion was giving its American customers free North America wide calling. Well it was then easy to figure out that with the help of a proxy I too could enjoy this wonderful free give-away.

Here are the steps 

 

Platforms: Mac,IPhone,Windows,Android

 

Step 1. Download and install Hotspot Shield

For linux use either an alternative US based proxy or follow this guide to install Hotspot in Ubuntu

• since this is the free version it does include ads...so either close the ads as they come up or get an ad-block application

Step 2. Download and install Gmail Voice


Step 3. Go and open up Gmail in your web browser...on the left hand side menu underneath chat...you should see a "call phone" feature..click on that and call your number with countrycode+area code+number.

Step. 4 Talk for hours with whoever :)
